Swami Yogaratna Saraswati
Swami Yogaratna Saraswati has over 34 years of experience in practicing and teaching all forms of yoga from the tradition of Bihar School of Yoga (BSY). She served the Bangalore branch of BSY for 20 years and is particularly appreciated for her talent in leading Yoga Nidra (psychic sleep) and other Meditations from the tantras, yoga therapy, yoga for children, the higher techniques of Chakra Sadhana, Kundalini yoga and many others, including satsangs (talks) and kirtan (group singing).
Sw. Yogaratna now runs a yoga and meditation ashram in Gokarna called Shankar Prasad which also includes an English medium primary school and an organic farm. The ashram facilitates community projects and people from all parts of the world go there to imbibe the true spirit of yoga.
Swami Yogaratna was born in Paris of Australian parents and raised in India. She went to school in Bombay, and went on to study art, education, and linguistics in Australia. After studying, working, and travelling, Swami Yogaratna committed her life to spiritual quest.
Sudeepta Shanbhag teaches a vinyasa style multi-level class based on the various styles of yoga she has studied and practiced over the years. Her yoga philosophy is firmly grounded in the mind-body-breath connection. She also teaches yoga classes for children with special needs to help improve mobility and address behavioral issues.
Sudeepta began her yoga journey in her teens exploring the asana practice. Over the years her learning journey has guided her to meditation and pranayama. She is a mother to energetic twin boys who help her appreciate the practice of sitting in stillness. She has completed her 200 and 300 hour trainings at Yoga Alliance certified Charm City Yoga Studio in Baltimore, USA under the guidance of Kim Manfredi. Sudeepta completed Level 1 and 2 training in yoga for special needs, and also completed a 200 hour teacher training in Yoga Nidra.
Sudeepta previously spent a decade as a bio-mechanical researcher, engineer and business analyst. She is an avid birdwatcher, terrace gardener and nature traveler.
Bernie Gourley is a writer and yoga teacher (RYT-500.) While he holds graduate degrees in International Affairs and in Economics, in recent years he has focused on studying the science of improved mind / body performance. He teaches asana and pranayama as a means to better health, clarity, and emotional stability. In a martial arts practice of over twenty-five years, he studied Japanese kobudo, muay-thai, kalaripayattu, and tai ji quan.
